2027: Enugu West Presents N100m Cheque to Gov. Mbah for Nomination Form

The Enugu West Senatorial Zone has presented a cheque of N100 million to Peter Mbah to support his nomination form ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The presentation took place on Saturday at the Enugu West Senatorial Zone Mega Rally held at Awgu Council Area field, where party leaders and supporters also endorsed Bola Tinubu and Mbah for the next general elections.

The senatorial zone, comprising Aninri, Awgu, Oji-River, Ezeagu, and Udi Local Government Areas used the event to formally declare its backing for the governor’s re-election bid.

Speaking at the rally, the Senator representing Enugu West, Osita Ngwu, described the endorsement as a consensus decision anchored on what he called tangible governance outcomes.

“Today, we are not here by accident; we are here by conviction. We have seen leadership in action, results, and real progress,” he said, commending the administration’s strides in infrastructure, security, and connectivity.

Also addressing the gathering, Anayo Onwuegbu, who represents Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, lauded the governor’s inclusive governance style and pledged overwhelming electoral support from the zone in 2027.

Awgu Local Government Chairman, Uchenna Okolo, reaffirmed grassroots loyalty to the administration, noting that all council areas in the district were united in support of continuity.

On his part, APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Ben Nwoye, described the endorsement as a sign of strong alignment with party leadership, urging sustained commitment from party faithful.

Similarly, Commissioner for Chieftaincy Matters, Charles Egumgbe, characterised the rally as a defining political moment, while Chief of Staff to the Governor, Victor Udeh, highlighted ongoing projects in education, healthcare, ICT, and road infrastructure across the zone.

Responding, Mbah expressed appreciation for what he termed a “historic and overwhelming” show of support. He credited Tinubu’s economic reforms with improving macroeconomic indicators, boosting foreign reserves, and enhancing federal allocations to states.

The governor outlined key initiatives of his administration, including Smart Green Schools, primary healthcare reforms, modern transport systems, and plans to introduce free school meals by September 2026.

He also commended the people of Enugu West for their unity and commitment, noting that the political journey leading to the moment began at the same venue five years earlier.

“You have shown that you cannot stand on the margins or the sidelines,” Mbah said, describing the endorsement as a reflection of shared vision and collective resolve.
