Shekarau Receives APC Membership Card in Kano

Former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, on Saturday formally rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC), receiving his membership card at his Giginyu constituency in Kano.

Shekarau, a serving senator, was accompanied by Governor Abba Yusuf, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and other party leaders.

Speaking shortly after the presentation, Shekarau thanked party members for their support and pledged to contribute to the growth and consolidation of the APC in Kano State and beyond. He described his return as part of ongoing political realignments in the state.

The development is seen as a significant shift in Kano’s political landscape, given Shekarau’s influence in the North-West.

His move to the APC is expected to strengthen alliances with former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, as both politicians position to counter another former governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who recently defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Governor Yusuf was elected on the platform of the NNPP but has since defected to the APC.
