ACTDA boss hails Soludo’s Awka renewal strategy

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr Ossy Onuko, has commended Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo for what he described as strategic interventions aimed at transforming the state capital.

Dr Onuko said the governor’s recent policy direction addressing long-standing social and infrastructural challenges in Awka reflected a “clear and deliberate vision” for urban renewal.

He made the remarks after a meeting with members of the Ozo Awka Society at the Light House in Awka.

Describing the governor’s approach to managing issues in the capital city as a “masterstroke,” Dr Onuko said the administration’s focus was geared towards modernising infrastructure and enforcing the Awka master plan.

He praised Governor Soludo for what he called a careful and structured handling of developments affecting the capital territory, adding that the initiatives were designed to reposition Awka for long-term growth.

Dr Onuko also assured that ACTDA remained fully committed to implementing government directives “without fear or favour,” stressing that the agency would continue to enforce planning regulations in line with the state’s urban development agenda.

He urged residents and stakeholders to support the government’s ongoing reforms, noting that while urban renewal projects may cause temporary inconveniences, they would ultimately deliver lasting benefits to the city and its inhabitants.
