Enugu Residents Ready to Re-Elect Mbah, Align With APC — Prince Josh Ejeh
Political analyst and public affairs commentator, Prince Josh Ejeh, has said many residents of Enugu State are prepared to support Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office, while also advocating stronger political alignment between the South-East and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Ejeh made the remarks while assessing political developments in Enugu State and the wider South-East region.
He argued that the outcome of the 2023 governorship election reflected growing public dissatisfaction with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after years of leadership in the state.
According to him, Governor Mbah’s emergence was driven largely by what he described as the governor’s competence, integrity and administrative record, rather than party sentiment alone.
He further claimed that the APC-led Federal Government and APC-controlled states had delivered significant developmental projects to the South-East, insisting that available governance indicators support the argument for closer cooperation with the ruling party at the centre.
Ejeh maintained that many residents of Enugu State now favour continuity in governance, citing ongoing infrastructure projects and policy reforms under the present administration.
“Governor Peter Mbah has transformed the fortunes of Enugu State and restored confidence in governance. Many people now believe continuity is necessary for sustained development,” he stated.
The political commentator also criticised the PDP, describing the party as being in deep internal crisis, while accusing some unnamed politicians of lacking credibility and effective leadership capacity.
He also referenced the political journey of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, noting his movement across different political parties over the years, including APGA, PDP and the Labour Party.
Ejeh said political realignments remain part of Nigeria’s evolving democratic process and urged political leaders to focus more on governance, economic growth and policies capable of improving citizens’ welfare.
