When I decided to marry him, it was with all my heart. I knew I didn't have all the sparks but I was endeared by his humane nature; he loved me and it was so obvious that there was no arguing that.

While we were dating, we had a minor "glitch" in the relationship so, we decided to take a break and while on the break, my ex boyfriend came visiting and one thing led to the other and we had sex. I felt terrible about it because I knew I had betrayed someone but I had to remind myself that we were on a break.

We came back together after a month and picked up from where we stopped and that was when I began to fall for him seriously. I started getting excited about him and my love for him began to grow. I felt guilty about what happened between me and my ex and I told him about it. He was sad for a while and afterwards,  he hugged me and said it wasn't a problem since we were not actively in a relationship when it happened. I loved him the more. His kind is rare to find. When he asked me to marry him, I agreed without thinking twice. I knew our union was going to be heaven on earth because he loved me much more than I loved him.

6 months into the marriage, I walked into the room one morning and saw his phone ringing, it was from a name I know. They've been friends for a long time and I made it a point of duty to make all his female friends my friends. He was in the bathroom and since I knew who it was, I didn't think it was a problem picking the call,

"Babes, how far? He's showering ooo."

Silence.

"Are you there?"

"Is this how you monitor his life. Why will you be taking someone's call when it's not your phone? As if you are a saint yourself."

I was shocked.

"Babe, where's this coming from? I just wanted to tell you that you should call back....."

"Mtchheeww.....". The line went dead.

I was still sitting on the bed with shock when he stepped out of the bathroom,

"What's giving Ada the guts to speak to me like this?"

"What are you saying?"

" I picked Ada's call to tell her she should call back because you were in the bathroom and she went ballistic on me saying that I was monitoring you so much as if I was a saint. Why would she say that?"

"Do I know? Am I Ada?"

He couldn't look me in the eye so, I knew something was up.

"I have been friends with Ada since I knew you. She has always been sweet towards me. Something must have happened. What are you not telling me, honey?"

"Okay. Okay. I told her about you and your ex"

My hands rushed to my left breast as I clutched it tightly. It was not because the breast was about falling but because I felt a sharp pain that I couldn't explain. He continued

"I was depressed. I could not stop imagining him with you, the things you must have done together. Everytime we had sex, it's like I'm watching you do it with him. I needed to talk to someone about it so I can free myself from the torment. Ada is my best friend and she was the only one I could talk to. After I  told her everything, she sympathised with me and told me that the only way I can get closure is to have sex with someone else. So, I did, with her."

The pain became sharper that I was practically pinching my breast so tight to know if it would stop. It was too bad that by the time I said the next words, it was a whisper

"You had sex with her?"

"Oh, don't give me that tone and don't guilt trip me. You started it when you opened your legs for that stupid boy who dumped you for being such a nice girl."

My biggest shock in all these was that there were no tears. Typically, I would have been wailing but no tears were coming. I guess I was numb. I walked out of the room while he kept calling my name to come back and not do something silly.

Something silly? Does he know what silly means? I had no plans of doing something silly but I sure had plans. I drove out of the compound.

Now, I'm sitting here looking at his stiff body. I watched him wriggle in pain as he looked into my eyes and asked me "what did you do?" I saw the pain in his eyes, the contortion of his face, the tears that welled up in his eyes as he clutched his chest with one hand and reached out for me with the other. I knew that the burn in his stomach would have been agonising; I was told that a few drops of cyanide in his drink will do the deed.

I will call the police as soon as I'm done writing this but I know that the story may be twisted after now and social media will have different versions of it. Oh, Ada will have a field day with her own version of the story so, I decided to share my story myself.
