2027: Enugu West Endorses Tinubu, Mbah for Second Term

 

The people of Enugu West Senatorial District have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for a second term, citing visible impact of their policies, projects, and interventions across the region.

At a massive rally held at the Awgu Local Government Secretariat field on Saturday, thousands of supporters also presented a N100 million cheque to Governor Mbah for the purchase of his re-election nomination form, pledging strong electoral backing.

Senator Ken Nnamani, former Senate President, cautioned against politicians promising single-term tenures, describing such pledges as often insincere.

Leading the endorsement process, Senator Osita Ngwu said the decision was driven by performance, not politics, pointing to key achievements such as the Enugu Command and Control Centre, Smart Schools across wards, Type-2 Healthcare Centres, and improved road infrastructure.

He noted that travel time within previously difficult routes, such as Aguobu Owa via 9th Mile, had significantly reduced, describing the developments as “real dividends of democracy.”

Former naval chief, Rear Admiral Allison Madueke (rtd.), and former Gombe military administrator, Group Capt. Joseph Orji (rtd.), also backed the endorsement, urging continued performance from the leaders.

Senator Nnamani and APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Dr. Ben Nwoye, urged voters to be cautious of one-term promises, insisting that experience and performance remain key.

Governor Mbah, addressing the crowd, described the rally as overwhelming and reaffirmed his commitment to deliver more projects. He also commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, citing improvements in macroeconomic stability, foreign exchange, inflation trends, and rising national reserves.

He pledged continued delivery of infrastructure and governance reforms, assuring residents that both state and federal leadership would not fail their expectations.

The endorsement motion for Tinubu was moved by Hon. Sunday Umeha and seconded by Hon. Toby Okechukwu, while that of Governor Mbah was moved by Speaker Uchenna Ugwu and seconded by Hon. Magnus Ede.

Dignitaries across political, traditional, and community leadership also expressed support for both endorsements, describing them as a reflection of performance and continuity.
