The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, which came into effect last Friday and is expected to last 10 days, remains highly fragile, according to reporting from Jerusalem.
Iran has said it has “no plans for the next round” of peace talks scheduled in Islamabad, deepening uncertainty over efforts to revive diplomatic engagement, Iranian officials have confirmed.
The United States says it will send a delegation to Pakistan led by Vice-President JD Vance, although the timing and scope of any potential discussions remain unclear, according to reporting from Washington.
The developments come after President Trump said US forces intercepted and seized an Iranian cargo vessel that was attempting to breach a blockade of Iranian ports.
In footage released from the operation, US forces can be heard warning the vessel: “Vacate your engine room, we’re prepared to subject you to disabling fire,” shortly before the action was carried out.
Iran’s military has vowed retaliation, while Iranian media reports claim drones were launched towards US vessels. There has been no independent confirmation of any damage.
