Military Rescues Wife of Late Ex-Defence Spokesman

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed the rescue of Mrs. Amina Abubakar, wife of the late Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted alongside her husband by bandits in Katsina State several weeks ago.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA, supported by the Nigerian Air Force, successfully rescued Mrs. Abubakar during intensified search-and-rescue operations targeting criminal elements in the area.

According to the military, troops made contact with the kidnappers at Tunga Village while sustaining offensive operations against armed groups operating within the region.

The rescue operation followed intensified search-and-rescue efforts conducted by troops of Operation FASAN YAMMA.
