ENUGU – The Executive Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Caleb Onyema Ani, has inaugurated a political support group known as the Caleb Movement to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and consolidate the structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 13 political wards of the council area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration ceremony attracted party stakeholders, ward leaders, youth representatives, women leaders, support groups and political associates from across Enugu South Local Government Area.
Speaking during the event, Ani said members of the Caleb Movement were carefully selected from the 13 wards by respected leaders and stakeholders within the local government.
According to him, the group's primary mandate is to promote the ideals and programmes of the APC, strengthen party cohesion at the grassroots, mobilise support for government policies and collaborate with other political support groups in preparation for future electoral contests.
"The Caleb Movement was established to serve as a grassroots mobilization platform that will further strengthen our party across the 13 wards of Enugu South Local Government Area. Its responsibility is to support the ideals of the APC, promote good governance and work harmoniously with existing support structures for the overall growth of the party," he said.
Ani stressed that the formation of the group was not intended to create divisions within the APC but to complement existing political structures and serve as a unifying force within the party.
He said the movement would work closely with other APC support organisations to ensure that the party remains vibrant, organised and electorally competitive across all wards.
"Our support groups are not separate political parties. They are all under the umbrella of the APC and remain integral parts of our collective political family.
"Every support group operating within Enugu South Local Government is working towards the same goal of strengthening our party and supporting good governance. We must continue to work together as one united family without rivalry or division," the chairman stated.
He urged members of the newly inaugurated group to remain disciplined, focused and committed to the collective interest of the party.
Ani further encouraged them to serve as ambassadors of peace, development and responsible political engagement within their respective communities.
According to him, the success of any political movement depends on loyalty, dedication, effective grassroots mobilisation and a shared commitment to the welfare of the people.
The chairman also assured members of his administration's continued support, reiterating his commitment to inclusive leadership, grassroots development, youth empowerment and people-oriented policies aimed at improving the lives of residents of Enugu South Local Government Area.
