Gov. Soludo offers automatic jobs to 37 first-class graduates

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has approved automatic employment for 37 first-class graduates of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU).

The governor made the announcement on Saturday during the institution’s 16th convocation ceremony held at its Igbariam campus in Anambra East LGA.

He also awarded a cash prize of N4 million to the overall best graduating student, Augustus Umeh of the Economics Department, who recorded a CGPA of 4.85 on a 5.0 scale.

Mr Soludo urged the graduands to become problem-solvers, innovators and agents of change, stressing that Nigeria must overcome its challenges through creativity and resilience rather than complaints.

He further charged the university to prioritise producing graduates equipped with practical solutions, noting that his administration remains committed to human capital development.

Speaking at the event, the Chancellor, Matthew Kukah, commended the Anambra State Government for its investment in education, describing the state as one of the top performers academically nationwide.

Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Kate Omenugha disclosed that 3,155 students graduated with first degrees, while 803 earned postgraduate qualifications. She added that 37 students made first class, 888 second-class upper, and 1,712 third class.
