Hisbah Arrests Four Adults in Kebbi Hotel Raids Over Alleged Immoral Acts

The Hisbah Board in Kebbi State says it has arrested four adults during raids on two hotels in Birnin Kebbi over alleged involvement in immoral activities.

The Director of the agency under the Kebbi State Ministry of Religious Affairs, Surajo Usman, confirmed the arrests on Tuesday while speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the arrests were carried out on April 25 following coordinated operations at two hotels, where two men and two women were apprehended.

“Unfortunately, one of the women is married with four children,” he said.

Usman said the board would continue to enforce moral standards, adding that the operations were part of efforts to curb indecent behaviour and promote social order in the state.

He also disclosed that similar raids in Birnin Kebbi and Makera led to the arrest of additional individuals, including young people and older men allegedly involved in immoral acts.

According to him, some of those picked up included minors and vulnerable individuals who were later reunited with their families. He added that a mentally unstable woman who had been missing for three years was also found and returned to her relatives.

Usman further stated that a teenage girl, described as a new convert to Islam, was rescued from a man accused of exploiting her, while another woman was reportedly arrested over allegations of exchanging sex for financial support.

The Hisbah chief said the agency also intervened in several social and family disputes, including marital conflicts, debt issues, and cases involving missing children and school truancy.

He warned residents against immoral conduct, urging repentance, and cautioned that repeat offenders would face stricter enforcement measures.
