Nwifuru Charges Corps Members on Unity, Integrity in Ebonyi

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to serve as ambassadors of unity, agents of positive change, and models of integrity throughout their service year.

He made the call during the swearing-in ceremony of 2026 Batch A Stream Two corps members held at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Afikpo, where they commenced their three-week orientation course.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Chief Richard Idike, encouraged the corps members to feel at home in Ebonyi State and take advantage of available opportunities to contribute meaningfully to its development. He also charged them to respect their host communities and ensure that their contributions leave a lasting positive impact.

In her remarks, the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs. Malgwi Maidariya, urged the corps members to participate fully in the orientation programme and uphold the scheme’s core values of unity, service, and integrity.

She also appealed for the establishment of a functional Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) centre, the renovation of the camp’s perimeter fencing to enhance security, and improved welfare for corps members.

A total of 1,598 corps members were sworn in at the ceremony, according to Correspondent Amechi Odo.
