The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has provided examination materials and welfare support for more than 1,100 candidates preparing for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Ghana’s East Gonja Municipality.

The items distributed on her behalf by the constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Haruna Abdul Aziz, include 1,200 mathematical sets and 24 boxes of pens for the 1,155 candidates due to sit the exams from Monday, 4 May.

Mr Abdul Aziz said education remained a priority for the MP, noting that she had, over the past six years, supported candidates with mock examinations, learning materials, transport and meals.

He added that arrangements had been made to provide daily lunch for candidates, invigilators and security personnel throughout the examination period. Students from the Konkomba, Kafaba, Makango and Abromase circuits, who will be accommodated at Salaga Senior High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, are also expected to receive breakfast and supper.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Municipal Education Directorate, the Deputy Director for Monitoring and Supervision, Rev. Augustine Tunkungmen, thanked the MP for what he described as sustained support for education in the area.

He said the materials would be distributed promptly, adding that such interventions help reduce pressure on parents and encourage better academic performance.

Ms Ibrahimah, in a message to the candidates, urged them to approach the examinations with confidence, discipline and determination.
