Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Friday, installed the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, as Chancellor of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University.
The ceremony, held at the university’s main campus, marked the formal investiture of the cleric into his new role at the state-owned institution.
Governor Soludo said the appointment reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening moral leadership, academic excellence and nation-building, adding that institutions of higher learning must continue to draw from individuals with proven integrity and intellectual depth.
Bishop Kukah, a prominent cleric and public commentator, is expected to play an advisory and ceremonial role in the university’s governance structure, in line with standard practice for chancellors in Nigerian universities.
The event was attended by government officials, members of the university community and other dignitaries.
