Troops Arrest Three Suspected Couriers, Recover 314 Rounds of Ammunition in Kogi

 

Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have arrested three suspected armed couriers in separate operations along major routes in Kogi State, disrupting what officials describe as a terrorist logistics network. The operations took place in Lokoja and along the Obajana–Kabba axis.

According to a statement by the Brigade spokesperson, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the arrests followed sustained intelligence-led operations targeting suspected supply chains linked to armed groups operating within the region.

He said the first interception occurred along the Jamata–Owara road in Lokoja Local Government Area, where troops stopped a motorcyclist suspected of transporting ammunition using a concealed compartment.

In a follow-up operation, troops mounted a snap checkpoint at Oshokoshoko and intercepted a commercial vehicle travelling from Makurdi. A search of the bus led to the recovery of 314 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and three AK-47 magazines hidden behind the driver’s seat. Two additional suspects were arrested in the operation, while mobile phones and identification documents were also recovered. The suspects have since been handed over to military intelligence for further investigation.
