Federal High Court Announces Death of Justice Mohammed Yunusa

The Federal High Court has announced the death of one of its serving judges, Justice Mohammed Nura Yunusa of the Kano Judicial Division.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Director of Information of the Federal High Court, Mrs Catherine-Oby Christopher, disclosed that the judge died on Thursday after a brief illness at the Kano State Medical Centre.

According to the statement, Justice Yunusa has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

The court described the late jurist as a distinguished judicial officer who served the judiciary with dedication, integrity and strong commitment to the administration of justice.

The statement read: “Justice M. N. Yunusa was a distinguished jurist who served with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the administration of justice.”

The Federal High Court noted that his contributions to the Bench and the legal profession would be remembered by colleagues, members of the Bar, court officials and others who worked closely with him during his years of service.

“The Federal High Court said the deceased’s immense contributions to the Bench and the legal profession would be fondly remembered.

“It said his contribution would also be greatly cherished by his colleagues, members of the outer Bar, court staff, and all who had the privilege of working with him.”

The court also conveyed condolences to the family of the late judge on behalf of the Chief Judge, judges, management and staff of the Federal High Court.

“The Chief Judge, judges, management, and staff of the Federal High Court extend their heartfelt condolences to his immediate family.

“We pray that Almighty God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus,” the statement added.
