The Enugu State Police Command says it has arrested a wanted armed robbery suspect and recovered a stolen vehicle, a motorcycle, suspected hard drugs, mobile phones and other exhibits in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said operatives of the Anti-Cultism Sub-Unit of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) carried out the operations based on credible intelligence and routine crime prevention patrols.

He said on 6 May 2026 at about 7:00 a.m., police operatives stormed the Nkwubor axis of Emene, where a suspected drug dealer, popularly known as “Doc,” fled on sighting the officers, abandoning his shop and a red Mate 90 ladies’ motorcycle.

According to him, a search of the scene led to the recovery of the motorcycle, wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine, large quantities of suspected cannabis sativa, sachets of tramadol, seven mobile phones, a wristwatch, a black bag and ₦8,000.

In a separate operation on 30 April 2026 at about 10:30 a.m., operatives arrested one Uchenna Ezeh, 34, at Amagu-Ugwu Road, Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu, over an armed robbery case under investigation.

SP Ndukwe said the suspect, a commercial minibus driver operating within the Garriki axis, reportedly confessed and led operatives to a mechanic workshop where a stolen white Toyota Hiace bus, inscribed “Morning Flight Nigeria Limited” with registration number NSK 643 ZY, was recovered while being dismantled.

He added that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are being made to arrest other suspects linked to the cases. He said the suspect in custody will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has commended the operatives for the arrests and recoveries, describing the operations as a significant success, and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and crime reduction in the state.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with credible and timely information.
