Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested businessman and former chairman of Skye Bank Plc, Tunde Ayeni, over allegations of multi-billion naira fraud.
Mr Ayeni was reportedly detained in Abuja and is currently in EFCC custody, as investigations continue.
The agency is examining claims that funds amounting to about 36.5 billion naira and 30 million US dollars were diverted and misappropriated. The money is alleged to have been obtained from Polaris Bank Plc through companies linked to the former bank chairman.
The EFCC has not yet issued a detailed public statement on the case.
