Enugu NULGE President Hails Mbah’s Worker Welfare Reforms

  

The newly elected president of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Enugu State, Comrade Udoagha Ani, has praised the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for policies aimed at improving workers’ welfare.

Speaking to journalists in Enugu on Friday, Comrade Ani said the reforms had particularly benefited employees at the local government level. He called for sustained support for the administration to maintain what he described as positive progress.

He cited the approval and implementation of an ₦80,000 minimum wage, applied without disparity, as a landmark achievement. According to him, the move ensured that local government workers were placed on the same pay level as their state counterparts.

“Our members have never had it so good,” he said.

Comrade Ani urged local government workers across the state to redouble their efforts, emphasising the need for improved service delivery and higher productivity within the system.

He also thanked NULGE members for their support during the union’s election, pledging to justify the confidence placed in him. He described the process as free, fair and credible, noting that it was conducted without interference and monitored by the union’s national leadership and representatives of affiliated bodies.

Comrade Ani appealed to members who contested the election unsuccessfully to work with his leadership, stressing the importance of unity.

“We are already reaching out to them because NULGE remains one family,” he said. “Together, we must prioritise the welfare of our members while contributing meaningfully to governance through better service delivery.”
