FG declares May 1 public holiday for Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has declared Friday, 1 May, a public holiday to mark this year’s International Workers' Day.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government.

In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated workers across the country and praised their contribution to national development.

He said Nigerian workers’ efforts were vital to the country’s growth and prosperity, and urged them to remain committed to productivity, patriotism and dedication to duty.

The government also reaffirmed its commitment to improving workers’ welfare and creating an environment that supports economic growth.

Mr Tunji-Ojo called on citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding during the holiday, encouraging reflection on unity and hard work in nation-building. (Source: Vanguard News)
