Iranian foreign minister leaves Islamabad after talks — state media

 

Abbas Araghchi has departed Islamabad following a series of high-level talks, according to Iran’s state news agency Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Images released by IRNA show Araghchi standing at the top of aircraft steps, smiling and placing his right hand on his chest — a customary gesture of respect — shortly before his departure.

Earlier, Reuters published photographs of a motorcade believed to be carrying the Iranian foreign minister as it left the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

Araghchi’s visit comes amid intensified diplomatic efforts surrounding the ongoing conflict in the region. During his time in Pakistan, he is understood to have presented Tehran’s “views and considerations” on possible pathways to ending the war, including proposals conveyed through Pakistani intermediaries.

Iranian officials have maintained that no direct meeting with US representatives was scheduled during the visit, even as Washington signalled that senior envoys could travel to Pakistan for related discussions.

The trip highlights Pakistan’s potential role as a diplomatic channel between Iran and other international actors, as efforts to sustain a fragile ceasefire continue alongside intermittent hostilities on the ground.
