Iran Signals Peace Push via Pakistan, Rules Out US Talks

Abbas Araghchi says he has presented Tehran’s “views and considerations” on ending the war during talks with Pakistan’s army chief in Islamabad, signalling a possible diplomatic push through Islamabad.

According to BBC Persian journalist Jiyar Gol, Araghchi appears to have arrived in the Pakistani capital with a comprehensive proposal aimed at advancing discussions via Pakistan.

The White House said on Friday that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were expected to travel to Pakistan for talks related to Iran, although it remains unclear whether they have departed.

Iranian officials have, however, told the BBC that any direct meeting with US representatives is not on Araghchi’s agenda.

In recent days, US officials have repeatedly played down suggestions that Washington is under pressure to bring the conflict to a swift conclusion.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces says it has killed four individuals it described as members of Hezbollah. Hezbollah, for its part, says it has carried out attacks on Israeli forces, despite a ceasefire that has recently been extended.
