Pharmaceutical Firm Partners Enugu Govt, Donates Malaria Drugs

A pharmaceutical firm, Reals Pharmaceutical Ltd, has partnered the Enugu State Government in efforts to eliminate malaria across the state’s 17 local government areas, reinforcing calls for stronger public-private collaboration in tackling the disease.

The company’s Sales and Marketing Director, Kunle Adesoye, disclosed this in Enugu on Tuesday during the presentation of 100 doses of an anti-malarial drug, Malwood Tablets, to the State Commissioner for Health, George Ugwu.

Adesoye, represented by the firm’s Business Manager, Lucky Nwajei, commended the administration of Peter Mbah for what he described as a “decisive commitment” to advancing impactful healthcare interventions.

He noted that the partnership reflects a shared vision to expand access to effective malaria prevention and treatment through community outreach, healthcare provider engagement, and improved availability of quality anti-malarial therapies.

“As stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem, we see immense value in forging strong public-private partnerships with the government to scale up access, awareness, and innovation in malaria control,” he said.

The donation coincided with the 2026 World Malaria Day, themed “Driven to End Malaria: Now We Can, Now We Must,” with the firm aligning its intervention with the state’s broader malaria elimination strategy.

Adesoye said the company donated 100 doses of Malwood Tablets an Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) recommended by the World Health Organization to support the state’s free malaria testing and treatment outreach.

According to him, the drugs are intended to ensure that individuals who test positive receive immediate and effective treatment, thereby bridging critical gaps in access to life-saving medication.

He added that the intervention underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening community-level healthcare delivery and contributing meaningfully to malaria elimination efforts in the state.

Responding, Ugwu lauded the firm’s support, describing it as timely and significant in the state’s intensified push to eradicate malaria.

“Today, we have gained another partner, and the scope of our stakeholders continues to expand,” he said, attributing the growing collaboration to the health sector reforms of the Mbah administration.
