Stand Firm Amid Trials, Methodist Archbishop Urges Nigerians

 

The Archbishop of the Enugu Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Rev Christopher Edeh, has called on Nigerians to remain steadfast and courageous despite the country’s current difficulties.

He made the appeal on Thursday at the 51st Synod of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Enugu Diocese, where he spoke on the theme, “I Will Fight for You,” taken from Exodus 14:14.

Archbishop Edeh said he believed Nigeria would overcome its socio-economic challenges, expressing confidence in divine intervention. He added that life involves both physical and spiritual struggles, and urged people to remain prayerful and resilient.

Referring to insecurity and economic hardship, he encouraged Nigerians not to give in to fear, saying current challenges would not last.

He also congratulated the church on hosting the 2026 synod and wished it success in its efforts toward spiritual and infrastructural development.

In a message to the gathering, the Methodist Prelate, His Eminence Oliver Ali-Abah, urged members to continue praying against injustice.

“God will come to the aid of Nigeria and the world, to set us free from every act of injustice,” he said.

The Diocesan Lay President, Ikechukwu Nnamoko, said the synod was convened to review the church’s activities, assess its challenges and plan ahead.

The three-day meeting is expected to end on Sunday with a thanksgiving service.
