US Seizes Iranian Ship as Trump Escalates Threats Amid Talks Uncertainty

The United States has intercepted and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo vessel that was attempting to bypass a US blockade of Iran’s ports, according to Donald Trump.

Speaking about the incident, Trump said the ship was issued a “fair warning” to stop in the Gulf of Oman but did not comply. He added that US naval forces disabled the vessel and it is now in American custody.

Earlier, Trump said US representatives would travel to Pakistan on Monday for talks. A White House official confirmed that Vice-President JD Vance will lead the delegation.

However, Iran’s state media reports that Iran currently has “no plans” to take part in the negotiations, although officials have not given a definitive position.

Trump has also warned that the US could target Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, if an agreement is not reached, in what is the latest in a series of escalating statements tied to the negotiations.
