ANSAA warns parties, fixes N50m permit for presidential campaign adverts

The Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA) has warned political parties and candidates participating in the 2027 general elections to comply strictly with regulations guiding outdoor political advertisements and campaign activities in the state or risk sanctions.

The agency issued the warning during a press conference held at its headquarters in Awka on Friday, where it unveiled approved permit fees and operational guidelines for political campaign advertisements ahead of the elections.

Addressing journalists, the Assistant General Manager of ANSAA, Engr. Chika Ngobili, said all candidates seeking elective offices in the 2027 polls must obtain permits from the agency and pay the approved fees before deploying any form of outdoor campaign materials across Anambra State.

According to him, the permit authorises candidates and political parties to deploy approved campaign materials and activities, including posters, banners, branded vehicles, public address systems, rallies, fliers, T-shirts, caps, and other promotional materials in designated locations within the state.

Ngobili disclosed that the approved permit fees are pegged at ₦50 million for presidential candidates, ₦20 million for senatorial candidates, ₦5 million for House of Representatives candidates, ₦1.5 million for House of Assembly candidates, ₦2.5 million for local government chairmanship candidates, and ₦100,000 for councillorship candidates.

He explained that the permit system was introduced to ensure orderliness in political advertising, prevent visual pollution, protect public infrastructure, maintain professional standards, and guarantee fairness and equal access to advertising opportunities across the state.

The ANSAA official further stated that the framework would ensure proper coordination of campaign-related outdoor activities and minimise indiscriminate deployment of political materials in unauthorised locations.

The agency also advised political parties and candidates to engage only practitioners registered with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), stressing that all campaign materials intended for outdoor display by political parties, support groups, advertising agencies, and practitioners must be vetted and approved by ARCON before deployment.

ANSAA warned against the indiscriminate pasting of posters and campaign materials on public buildings, road signs, bridges, flyovers, drainage channels, utility installations, schools, hospitals, public monuments, and other prohibited locations across the state.
