Atiku Receives ADC Flag as 2027 Presidential Candidate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has formally received the party’s flag as its presidential flag bearer for the 2027 general election.

The presentation took place on Wednesday evening in Abuja, following the nationwide collation of results from the party’s presidential primary election. The National Chairman, Senator David Mark, handed over the flag to the former Vice President amid applause from party leaders and supporters.

Senator David Mark said: “I will like to handover our flag to our flagbearer, and the man who will take us to the villa. The journey ahead might not be easy, but with Nigerians on our side, we will win. Nigerians are watching to see if we can put them first. Let tonight mark a rebirth of political trust. Let’s embrace spirit of sportsmanship.”

He also called on all other aspirants to work together, describing them as eminently qualified to lead the country.

Responding, Atiku Abubakar said: “I hereby accept the nomination.”

In his acceptance speech, Atiku urged other contestants — former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen — to close ranks and work for the progress of the party.

According to The Nation, Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi scored 504,117 votes and Hayatu-Deen secured 177,120 votes.
