CAF sets dates for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the 2027 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 June to 17 July.

The tournament, to be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, will mark the first time the competition is staged across three nations. However, organisers are yet to announce which country will host the opening match or the final.

The dates were approved by the FIFA Council at a meeting in Vancouver, Canada, amid earlier concerns over the readiness of the host nations.

CAF president Patrice Motsepe expressed confidence in the preparations, stating that efforts had been intensified to ensure the tournament proceeds as planned.

“We are committed to hosting a successful AFCON in East Africa,” he said.

The 2027 tournament will also mark the return of the continental showpiece to the region for the first time since the 1976 edition held in Ethiopia.
