Davido Pauses Music Career to Lead Adeleke’s Re-election Bid

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has suspended his music career for two months to spearhead the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship poll.

Davido announced the decision on Tuesday in Ede during the inauguration of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, where he said his focus would shift to grassroots political engagement in support of his uncle’s second-term ambition.

“I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle… because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish,” he said, adding that the campaign effort would rely heavily on youth mobilisation and community outreach.

He urged members of the campaign team to intensify door-to-door mobilisation across all local government areas in Osun State, highlighting the importance of communicating the governor’s achievements and programmes to voters.

Davido will chair the mobilisation committee, which includes representatives from federal constituencies across the state, as political activities intensify ahead of the governorship election.
