Desmond Elliot Apologises to Gbajabiamila

Lagos State lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Mr Desmond Elliot, has publicly apologised to the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, saying any misunderstanding between them during past political engagements was unintentional.

Mr Elliot made the apology during an appearance on TVC’s Your View, where he acknowledged that he may have offended his senior colleague and political mentor in the course of his political activities.

He said he grew into politics under the guidance of Mr Gbajabiamila, whom he described as his “egbon” (elder brother), adding that emotions and political tensions may have contributed to past disagreements. “I’m not saying, oh, yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” he said.

He further appealed for forgiveness, saying, “To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way,” while also extending apologies to what he described as the “matriarch of Surulere,” expressing regret for any offence caused during his political engagements.

Mr Elliot maintained that despite the apology, he remains committed to party unity and service delivery in his constituency, adding that his record in Surulere speaks for itself.

The apology comes amid earlier political tensions linked to the Lagos State House of Assembly leadership crisis, during which Mr Gbajabiamila reportedly disclosed that he nearly lost his position at the Presidency following allegations connected to Mr Elliot’s political activities.

He noted that President Bola Tinubu had confronted him over intelligence reports suggesting Mr Elliot’s involvement in moves around the Assembly speakership tussle, allegations he previously denied.

Mr Elliot reiterated on the programme that he remains focused on strengthening the party and delivering on his mandate, saying, “But I will keep keeping the party strong. And to all Surulerians, my scorecard is there. You know the things I’ve done to make Surulere a better place.”
