Eid-el-Kabir: 82 Division Imam Urges Muslims to Embrace Sacrifice, Fear of God

The Acting Imam of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Captain Bashiru Bello, has urged Muslim faithful to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, obedience and the fear of God as Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

Captain Bello made the call on Wednesday while leading Eid prayers at the Eid Prayer Ground of the Abakpa Military Cantonment in Enugu State. He said both leaders and citizens must remain committed to doing what is right for Nigeria to become a better society.

Representing the Chief Imam of the 82 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Bello Musa, the cleric said Eid-el-Kabir symbolises sacrifice, devotion and total obedience to Almighty Allah. He referenced the Qur’anic account of Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Ismail, in obedience to God’s command.

He said: “In recognition of his commitment, Almighty Allah replaced Ismail with a ram at the last moment.

“On that day, therefore, Muslims all over the world demonstrate their obedience to Almighty Allah by sacrificing an animal and commemorating it with a feast.”

The Imam also offered prayers for Nigerian troops serving in various theatres of operation across the country and prayed for wisdom and protection for the General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Oluremi Fadairo, the Garrison Commander, other military commanders, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
