The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday, published notice of election, timetable and schedule of activities for the conduct of Enugu North Senatorial District Bye-Election.
INEC's Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Enugu State, Dr Chukwuemeka Chukwu, told newsmen in a press briefing in Enugu that the bye-election had been scheduled to hold on June 20.
Chukwu noted that the bye-election became necessary to fill the vacant seat representing Enugu North Senatorial District in the Senate.
He noted that the bye-election timetable and schedule included the official publication of the Notice of Election on May 21 and scheduled conduct of political party primaries between May 22 and May 26.
According to him, there will be Submission of Nomination Forms through the INEC Nomination Portal between May 29 and June 2.
He said, "Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs) pre-training assessment, briefing and training hold between June 3 and June 7.
"Publication of personal particulars of candidates on June 9; and commencement of campaigns on June 10 as political parties are permitted to commence campaigns in public from June 10.
"Presiding Officers (POs) and Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs) pre-training assessment, briefing and training hold from June 10 to June 14.
"Submission of names of polling agents not later than June 11, and end of campaigns on June 18, which is 24 hours before Election Day. The Enugu North Senatorial District Bye-Election shall hold on June 20."
The REC noted that the commission remained committed to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent election.
"We, therefore, call on all political parties and candidates to strictly adhere to the timetable and guidelines issued by the commission," he added.
