Jubilation In Enugu As Rangers Clinch Ninth NPFL Title

There was widespread celebration across Enugu State on Sunday after Rangers International F.C. emerged champions of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Excited supporters flooded major streets in parts of the state shortly after the final whistle, chanting victory songs and celebrating the club’s historic ninth league title. Bars, viewing centres and relaxation spots were also filled with jubilant fans applauding the achievement.

Speaking during the celebrations, a football supporter, Mr. Sylvanus Okeke, described the victory as fully deserved.

“Rangers is our darling team. We are very happy that the trophy is returning to Enugu. It is a thing of joy,” he said.

Another supporter, Miss Ngozi Ugwu, also expressed excitement over the triumph.

“I am so happy for Rangers International FC of Enugu, our darling team. We are waiting for their victorious return to the Coal City,” she stated.

A fan, Mr. Ibe Nwosu, said he remained confident throughout the season that Rangers would eventually win the title because of what he described as the club’s tradition of resilience and determination.

“Rangers emerged after the civil war, so the spirit of resilience is in the team. Any player that wears the white-and-red jersey understands its value. It is a worthwhile achievement,” he said.

Mr. Nwosu also commended Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for supporting the players, officials and supporters throughout the campaign.

Rangers secured the league title after defeating Ikorodu United F.C. two goals to one in Lagos to finish the season with 68 points.
