Portable Challenges Anthony Joshua to ₦1bn Boxing Showdown

Nigerian singer, Portable, has publicly challenged heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua to a ₦1 billion celebrity boxing match, saying he is confident of defeating the former world champion if the financial terms are met.

Portable made the statement during a public face-off ahead of his scheduled exhibition bout against social media personality Carter Efe.

“For ₦1 billion, I’ll take you down,” he said while calling out Joshua at the event, describing himself as a leading figure in Nigeria’s celebrity boxing scene.

The singer is billed to face Carter Efe on Friday in an exhibition match at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. He reportedly received ₦40 million for accepting the fight, with additional incentives allegedly promised by supporters, including cash rewards and a car if he wins.

Carter Efe, according to organisers, agreed to the bout after being told the winner would receive ₦50 million.

Portable has become a recurring figure in celebrity boxing in Nigeria. In April 2025, he defeated social media personality Speed Darlington, and previously recorded wins against actor Charles Okocha in 2023 and Kelvin Power, bodyguard to singer Kizz Daniel, in 2024.
