Salaga South MP commissions grinding mill for Kitoe community

The Member of Parliament for Ghana’s Salaga South constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has commissioned a grinding mill for the Kitoe community to help reduce the workload of women and improve livelihoods.

Speaking at the ceremony on Friday, Hajia Ibrahimah said women in the community had raised concerns during her campaign visits ahead of the 2024 general elections about the difficulties they faced travelling long distances to Salaga to grind cereals and other food items.

She said many women were forced to endure difficult and unhygienic conditions because of the lack of a local facility.

The MP said the project was part of her commitment to responding to the needs of constituents and improving living conditions across the area.

She thanked residents for their patience and continued support, and reaffirmed her commitment to development initiatives within the constituency.

Hajia Ibrahimah also used the occasion to brief residents on projects and interventions she has undertaken since taking office.

A local women’s leader, Madam Inusah Birimini, thanked the MP on behalf of the community for fulfilling her promise.

She said the grinding mill would significantly reduce the burden on women and support economic and household activities in Kitoe.

Before the commissioning, the MP held a meeting with community leaders, women and residents.

She was accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive, Kassim Yazid Rabiu; the Constituency Chairman, Haruna Abdul Aziz; and branch executives led by Kitoe Branch Chairman, Mahama Salifu.
