Soludo First Governor to Honour Egwu Imoka, Says Awka Monarch

The Traditional Ruler of Awka Kingdom, Obi Gibson Nwosu, has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, for what he described as transformational development projects aimed at repositioning Awka as a modern capital city.

Speaking at his palace after receiving Governor Soludo on a solidarity visit during the 2026 Egwu Imoka Festival, the monarch expressed appreciation for the governor’s support and commitment to the development of Awka community.

“Governor Soludo is the first sitting governor to pay a solidarity visit during the Egwu Imoka Festival, which remains the highest traditional festival in Awka Kingdom,” Obi Nwosu said.

The monarch praised ongoing projects in the state capital, including the new Government House and Lodge, Solution Fun City, Ikenga Shopping Mall, and several road infrastructure projects, noting that the developments have elevated Awka’s profile as the capital of Anambra State.

He also urged youths of Awka extraction to protect and preserve public infrastructure across the community.

Obi Nwosu reaffirmed the support and loyalty of the people of Awka to the Soludo administration, describing the governor’s relationship with the community as historic and impactful.

In separate remarks, the Traditional Prime Minister of Awka Kingdom, Chief Benjamin Okoye, and the Special Adviser to the Awka Traditional Institution on Intergovernmental Affairs, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, commended Governor Soludo for pledging to partner with the community in constructing a central palace for the traditional ruler.

They also praised the governor for appointing sons of Awka into key positions in his administration and for efforts aimed at strengthening traditional institutions in the state.

Governor Soludo was received at the Eze Uzu Palace by members of the Ozo Awka Society, leaders of the Awka Development Union Nigeria led by its President-General, Chief Frederick Chinwuba, as well as youths, women, and professionals from the Awka community.
