Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, in a warm exchange with Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze, during a courtesy visit at the Government House, Umuahia.Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, says plans have reached an advanced stage for the construction of a new multi-purpose Umuahia Stadium, designed as a “stadium city” to promote sports development, tourism, and economic growth in the state.
Governor Otti disclosed this when he received Super Eagles and AC Milan winger, Samuel Chukwueze, at the Government House in Umuahia. The football star was on a courtesy visit to appreciate the governor for his support during the burial of his late mother.
The governor explained that land for the proposed project has already been secured, adding that the facility will go beyond a traditional stadium. According to him, the project will include sporting infrastructure, hotels, residential estates, and recreational centres aimed at turning the area into a sports and entertainment hub.
Governor Otti praised Chukwueze as a proud ambassador of Abia State, congratulating him on his achievements in professional football and assuring him of continued government support in his sporting career and personal development.
In his response, Samuel Chukwueze commended Governor Otti for what he described as visible improvements in infrastructure across Abia State, particularly the ongoing road projects in Umuahia which he said have significantly changed the outlook of the capital city.
The AC Milan forward also described the proposed stadium city project as a strategic investment in youth and sports development, pledging his personal commitment to supporting initiatives that will nurture young talents across the state.
