2027: Fubara clarifies defection rumours

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has denied reports suggesting he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political party, insisting that he remains a member of the ruling party.

Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, Fubara described the claims circulating on social media as false and urged the public to disregard them.

“I’m a member of the APC, and nothing has changed. Whatever happens, what is important is supporting the overall interest of the party,” he said.

The governor’s clarification comes amid growing political speculation over possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with various rumours linking key political figures to different parties.

Fubara stressed that he remains committed to the APC and to supporting the party’s broader objectives, seeking to put an end to the controversy generated by the reports of his alleged defection.
