Mbah urges professionals to uphold ethics at architect Njoku’s 70th birthday

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has urged professionals across various sectors to uphold ethics, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties in order to distinguish themselves and contribute meaningfully to society.

He gave the charge in Enugu during a thanksgiving church service marking the 70th birthday of renowned architect and community leader, Festus Adibe Njoku.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, the governor said adherence to professional ethics helps prevent errors and ensures long-term excellence in practice.

“As we celebrate Architect Festus Adibe Njoku today, the state government appreciates the value he brings to Enugu State, particularly his insistence on professionalism and doing things the right way,” he said.

Mbah described Njoku as a man of humility and ethical conduct, noting that he maintains calmness and clarity even in disagreement.

He also called on the church to continue praying for peace and progress in the state as well as for the success of his administration.

In a sermon titled “How Sacrificial Thanksgiving Moves the Hand of God”, Pastor Boniface Okenwa urged Christians to embrace thanksgiving, saying acts of service, ethics and gratitude attract divine blessings.

He commended Njoku for his support for evangelism, education, and assistance to the less privileged.

In remarks, one of Njoku’s mentees, Mr Chidi Eze, described him as a consistent source of financial and moral support to many, noting his quiet philanthropy and impact across professional and faith-based circles.

Responding, Njoku thanked God for 70 years of life and urged people to remain committed to godly living and good works.

He said: “The world is a small place, and one’s positive deeds today will surely return with greater positive gain tomorrow.”

Njoku is credited with designing major projects in Enugu, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), its adjoining facilities, the ongoing ICC Five-Star Hotel, and the International Hospital, Enugu.

He is a Fellow and former President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and National Director of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International.
