Ofoelue Buried in Arochukwu Amid Tributes

The remains of Mazi Onukwube ThankGod Ofoelue, publisher of Jungle Journalist, were on Saturday laid to rest in Arochukwu, Abia State, amid tributes from family members, colleagues, community leaders and sympathisers.

The funeral service attracted a large turnout of mourners who described the deceased as a fearless journalist and media entrepreneur committed to truth, accountability and public interest reporting.

Speaking during the service, the Resident Preacher and Arochukwu Branch President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Enyinnaya Okoroafor, described death as a transition to eternity, urging the bereaved family to draw comfort from faith and the hope of life after death.

He noted that earthly life is transient and encouraged reflection on moral values and spiritual preparedness.

In a tribute on behalf of the family, Mazi Okoronkwo Hyacinth Ofoelue described the deceased as exceptionally brilliant from childhood, adding that his passing was a painful loss to the family and the wider community.

Dignitaries and associates who attended the burial paid glowing tributes, describing Ofoelue as a man of conviction who practised journalism with courage and consistency. A former Abia North senatorial aspirant, Chief Emeka Charles Kanu, and Sir Dave E. Imoko of Nzuko Aro Worldwide, said he distinguished himself through integrity and commitment to the profession.

They described his death as a significant loss to Arochukwu and society at large, noting that his contributions to journalism and civic advocacy would be remembered.

Also speaking, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka said the late publisher used his platform to amplify issues affecting Ndigbo and remained steadfast in his convictions.

The burial was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders and representatives of Eze Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, among other dignitaries.

Ofoelue is survived by his family, colleagues and a legacy of fearless journalism and media advocacy.
