Bishop Onaga Seeks Stronger Missionary Collaboration in Enugu Diocese

The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. C.V.C. Onaga, has called for stronger collaboration between the diocesan Church and religious institutes working within the Diocese to advance evangelisation and human development.

Bishop Onaga made the call during a pastoral meeting held on Saturday, 16 May 2026, at the Jubilee Hall of the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu, with representatives of about 55 male and female religious institutes resident in the Diocese.

The gathering, described as a meeting of mutual relations, focused on strengthening cooperation in missionary activities and pastoral service across the Diocese.

Addressing participants, Bishop Onaga stressed the importance of communion, cooperation, and shared responsibility in the mission of the Church. He noted that the various charisms of religious institutes in areas such as education, healthcare, pastoral care, and social apostolate remain vital to the growth of the local Church.

He encouraged members of the religious institutes to continue dedicating themselves to joyful service, particularly in the areas of evangelisation and human development.

The meeting ended on a cordial note, with the Vicar for Religious, Very Rev. Fr. Chukwuemeka Uche, delivering the vote of thanks.
