FRSC Inducts 145 Special Marshals in Enugu

The Federal Road Safety Corps has inducted 145 new Special Marshals in Enugu State as part of efforts to improve traffic management and promote safety on roads across the state.

Speaking after the induction ceremony on Sunday, the Sector Commander of the FRSC Enugu State Command, Franklin Agbakoba, urged the volunteers to uphold the discipline, integrity and professionalism associated with the corps.

Represented by the Deputy Corps Commander and Second-in-Command, Kyrian Okolo, Agbakoba described the Special Marshals as “the backbone of volunteerism” in the country and commended them for dedicating their time and resources to public service.

“This is patriotism and love for the nation and humanity in action,” he said, adding that the volunteers had undergone intensive training to prepare them physically and psychologically for the task ahead.

He thanked the inductees for joining the corps in its campaign for safer and accident-free roads across the state.

In a goodwill message, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised the new marshals for volunteering to serve without financial reward.

Represented by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Oliver Odimega, the police commissioner assured the volunteers of continued cooperation from the police to ensure smooth operations.

Also speaking, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Elijah Willie, congratulated the new marshals and urged them to remain committed to the protection of lives and property.

Represented by his Personal Assistant, Emmanuel Nwatu, the commandant encouraged the volunteers to remain faithful in service, noting that sacrifices made in the interest of humanity would always be rewarded.

Earlier, the State Coordinator of FRSC Special Marshals, Anthony Orji, cautioned the inductees against misconduct and urged them to comply fully with traffic regulations.

According to him, Special Marshals are individuals of proven integrity who must lead by example by ensuring that their own vehicle documents are complete and up to date before enforcing compliance on other road users.

One of the inductees, Godwin Lamidi, thanked the FRSC for giving him the opportunity to contribute to public safety and positively impact lives through voluntary service.
