JAMB sets university cut-off mark for 2026 admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has fixed 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026 academic session.

The decision was reached on Monday during the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions held in Abuja, attended by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, alongside vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts and heads of tertiary institutions.

According to the resolution of the stakeholders, the benchmark for admission into universities was set at 150, while polytechnics and monotechnics will admit candidates with a minimum score of 100. Colleges of Nursing Sciences were also fixed at 150 as the minimum requirement.

The policy meeting, which brought together key education regulators and institutional heads, also agreed on admission deadlines for tertiary institutions for the 2026 academic cycle, as part of efforts to standardise entry requirements across the country.
