Soludo Swears in Commissioners, Reconstitutes Anambra Executive Council

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has sworn in 18 commissioners and inaugurated additional executive council members in Awka as part of efforts to strengthen his administration’s governance structure.

The ceremony took place at the Executive Council Chambers, Light House, Awka, with the governor urging the appointees to focus on service delivery, accountability, and accelerated development across the state.

The newly sworn-in commissioners include Ben Odoemena (Agriculture); Chukwukadibia Okoye (Budget and Economic Planning); Udoji Amedu (Culture, Entertainment and Tourism); Dr. Ekene Ogugua (Education); Dr. Clem Aguiyi (Environment); Dr. Afam Obidike (Health); Dr. Law Mefor (Information and Value Reorientation); and Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN (Lands).

Others are Vin Ezeaka (Local Government and Community Affairs); Prof. Charles Ofoegbu (Petroleum and Mineral Resources); Chijioke Oseloka Ojukwu (Physical Planning and Urban Development); Engr. Casmir Agummadu (Power); Engr. Okey Ezeobi (Works and Infrastructure); Eddy Ibuzo (Transport); Esther Onyekesi (Women Affairs and Social Development); Patrick Agha (Youth Development and Sports); Arc. Henry Arinze (Housing); and Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu (Commerce).

Recall that Barr. Tochukwu Nweke had earlier been sworn in as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, bringing the total number of commissioners to 21 following legislative screening and confirmation by the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Governor Soludo said the reconstitution of the State Executive Council marks the beginning of what he described as “Team Solution 2.0,” following the dissolution of the previous cabinet after his second-term inauguration. He said the appointments are a call to “rigorous work, sacrifice and public accountability,” adding that the decisions of the new cabinet would directly impact over nine million residents of the state.

Also inaugurated were heads of key agencies, including the Managing Director of the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA), Mr. Emeka Okonkwo; Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko; Managing Director of the Information and Communication Technology Agency, Mr. Fred Agbata; and the Managing Director of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Engr. Obi Okonkwo.

The governor charged the new commissioners and agency heads to ensure prudence, coordination, and effective delivery in their respective ministries and offices.
