Tinubu to Embark on Three-Nation Diplomatic Trip

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to embark on a three-nation diplomatic visit to France, Kenya and Rwanda, beginning Saturday, May 2, 2026, as part of efforts to deepen international partnerships and advance economic reforms.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the trip will begin in France before the President proceeds to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11–12.

The summit, which will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, infrastructure development and reforms in global financing systems.

The Presidency said Mr Tinubu’s participation would highlight Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with African countries and France, while positioning the country as an investment destination.

During the summit themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth”, African and French leaders are expected to discuss economic transformation, youth empowerment, climate resilience and peace-building initiatives.

Following the Kenya engagement, Mr Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14–15.

The forum, held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will bring together more than 2,000 business leaders, investors and policymakers to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth, regional integration and private sector development.

The Presidency added that the Nigerian leader will also hold meetings with global and African business executives during the trip.

He is expected to be accompanied by senior ministers and aides and will return to Nigeria after the Rwanda engagement.
