Troops Neutralise Three Terrorists, Recover Arms in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised three suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol in Zamfara State, in a continued offensive against armed groups operating in the North-West region.

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, the operation was conducted in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area, covering Birnin Tsaba, Tsanu and Dumburum communities. Contact was made with the armed group at Dumburum village, where a gun battle ensued.

During the encounter, the troops successfully neutralised three terrorists and recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition, with no casualties recorded on the side of the military personnel involved in the operation.

Items recovered include one AK-47 rifle, one SK-21 A1 machine gun, a locally fabricated pistol, six AK-47 magazines, and one FN rifle magazine. Others are 123 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 179 rounds of 12.7×108mm ammunition on links, and 269 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.

The Nigerian Army has continued intensified operations across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West as part of efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt their logistics and firepower capabilities.
