Soludo appoints Onwualu as Pro-Chancellor of COOU

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has approved the appointment of Professor Peter Onwualu as Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam.

Professor Onwualu, an eminent scholar in Agricultural Engineering, is currently the Vice-Chancellor of the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja, and a former Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council.

A distinguished engineer and administrator, he has made notable contributions to the advancement of Agricultural and Materials Engineering in Nigeria. He is widely regarded for his multidisciplinary expertise and leadership in academia and research.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, Professor Onwualu has held several strategic academic and advisory roles, including Visiting Professor at the National Universities Commission and Co-Centre Leader of the World Bank-funded Pan African Materials Institute.

He has authored more than 200 scholarly publications and holds 10 patents. He is also a fellow of 12 scientific and professional bodies and has received over 70 awards from various organisations.

Governor Soludo, who serves as Visitor to the state-owned university, also approved the appointment of other members of the Governing Council. They include Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, Igwe Chidume Oranu, Professor Josephat Ogbuagu, and retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Chris Ezike.

The new council members are expected to bring their diverse experience to strengthen governance at the institution and support its drive towards academic excellence.
