2027: ADC Presidential Aspirant Hayatu-Deen Meets Former President Jonathan

An African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has met former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja to discuss Nigeria’s political future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held behind closed doors on Friday, brought together both men who share a long history of public service dating back to Jonathan’s time as Vice-President and later as President.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Hayatu-Deen previously served on the National Council on Privatisation and chaired the Bureau of Public Enterprises during Jonathan’s administration as Vice-President. He also served on the Presidential Advisory Committee during Jonathan’s presidency, where he contributed to governance and economic reform efforts.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr Hayatu-Deen said his visit was to formally inform the former president of his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the ADC.

He said his experience in both the public and private sectors had strengthened his resolve to seek the nation’s highest office.

The economist and banker also confirmed that he had obtained the ADC presidential nomination form from the party’s national secretariat.

Mr Hayatu-Deen commended Jonathan’s role in promoting democratic values across Africa, describing him as a “strong advocate for electoral integrity and good governance.”

Former President Jonathan reportedly received him warmly and wished him success in his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections, NAN added.
