AMVCA 2026: Full List of Winners as My Father’s Shadow Wins Best Movie

The 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has celebrated another year of African film, television and digital storytelling excellence, with top honours going to My Father’s Shadow, which won Best Movie at a star-studded ceremony held on Saturday.

The annual awards brought together leading figures from Nollywood and across the continent, recognising outstanding performances, production quality and creative innovation in multiple categories.

Among the night’s standout winners were Uzor Arukwe, who won Best Lead Actor for Colours of Fire, and Linda Ejiofor, who clinched Best Lead Actress for The Serpent’s Gift.

Bucci Franklin won Best Supporting Actor for his role in To Kill a Monkey, while Lateef Adedimeji received Best Indigenous Film (West Africa) for Lisabi (A Legend Is Born), dedicating the award to his wife, actress Mo Bimpe Adedimeji.

The biggest prize of the night, Best Movie, went to My Father’s Shadow, which emerged as one of the most awarded productions of the ceremony.

Other major winners included To Kill a Monkey, which won Best Editing and Best Cinematography, and Colours of Fire, which also picked up awards in costume design and art direction.

In the documentary category, Beyond Olympic Glory won Best Documentary, while Hussainin claimed Best Short Film.

The awards also recognised excellence in digital content creation, with Leave To Live winning Best Digital Content Creator, and Nigerian Idol (Season 10) taking Best Unscripted M-Net Original.

In scripted productions, The Low Priest won Best Scripted M-Net Original, while Inimba secured Best Indigenous M-Net Original.

Industry honours were also presented during the ceremony, with veteran actress Sola Sobowale receiving the Industry Merit Award alongside Kanayo O. Kanayo.

The Trailblazer Award went to Uche Montana, while Best Director was awarded to Akinola Davies Jr for My Father’s Shadow.

The AMVCA is organised by Africa Magic and continues to serve as one of the continent’s most prestigious platforms for recognising excellence in film and television.
