Cubana Chief Priest reacts after losing APC House of Reps primary election

Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has spoken out after failing to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.

According to dailypost, the nightlife promoter, who also serves as Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, polled just 14 votes in the party’s House of Representatives primary, a result that ended his bid for a seat in the 2027 general elections.

‘I don’t regret trying’ — Cubana Chief Priest

Reacting in a video circulating online, Cubana Chief Priest said he remained undeterred by the outcome, insisting that his decision to contest was not a mistake.

“I’m a hustler, and I didn’t regret trying to contest for a position,” he said.

However, he expressed disappointment over what he described as misplaced trust in community leaders.

“My only regret was trusting the elders in the community,” he said.

He added that despite his efforts and contributions, the outcome of the primary shocked him.

“I know how much I gave them, but only 14 people voted for me in the primary,” he said.

Background to the defeat

The APC primary in Imo State formed part of the party’s nationwide exercise to select candidates for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Cubana Chief Priest’s loss has generated wide public reaction, particularly on social media, where commentators have debated the influence of political structures, loyalty networks, and grassroots mobilisation within party primaries.

Party officials have not publicly responded to his claims as of the time of filing this report.
